We are issuing a Call for a founding conference of a new group, the International Marxist-Humanist Organization, because the body of ideas of Marxist-Humanism is in urgent need of philosophic and organizational renewal.

These meetings in Chicago will review the beginnings of capital accumulation which were also the beginnings of alienated labor and labor revolt. They will also investigate a new way of thinking about the possibilities of human liberation which arose with the “new humanism” articulated by Karl Marx as well as Marx’s dialectical thought and his critiques of historical dead-ends for revolutionary movements. These extend into today with national liberation movements, women’s liberation, Black and Latino struggles, and youth aspirations for freedom.
