Talk by Peter Hudis

The great revolutionary thinker Rosa Luxemburg’s letters – published in this volume more fully than ever before in English — reveal both her human side and her political and economic concerns, from the 1890s until her assassination in Berlin by proto-fascists in 1919. Issues such as the relationship of spontaneity to revolution, gender and socialism, the accumulation of capital, and imperialism and war will be addressed. So too will her critique of undemocratic features of post-revolutionary Russia, penned from a German prison, while serving a sentence for revolutionary opposition to the First World War.
